Bad to worse for Rangers as Sky Sports journo makes painful reveal

Rangers are in something of a pickle. The prime choice Steven Gerrard said no, for whatever reason, and all Rangers’ eggs had been in that basket. Rangers manager search isn’t great.

The club is back to square one, with no single outstanding candidate on the horizon, even if Danny Rohl is bookies’ favourite.

Worse was to come yesterday for Rangers fans when Sky Sports’ Sahil Jaidka made the claim that hapless Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell, public enemies number one and two to Rangers fans, are now part of the recruitment process.

He said:

“Rangers chairman Andrew Cavenagh – who led the US takeover of the club in the summer – and vice-chairman Paraag Marathe have been holding talks with various candidates. They have been joined by 49ers Enterprises technical director Gretar Steinsson, Gers CEO Patrick Stewart and sporting director Kevin Thelwell in London for the negotiations.”

Previously it was understood the two ‘owners’ alongside Steinsson had been doing the recruitment, but we’re sure the addition now of Thelwell and Stewart will cheer fans up.

Their targets perennially seem to be Championship and League One slop like Rohl, McKenna, Carrick and even Lampard.

This is not the calibre fit for Rangers and yet these guys are now actively involved in recruitment.

We’re not sure why the owners brought them in, but it’s very telling the McKennas and Carricks appeared as soon as the gruesome twosome did.

Where thing go now we don’t know, but we are not reassured at all with those two being part of the ‘process’. Rangers manager search is struggling.
