Bad news for Roma and the Italian U21 national team.
Tommaso Baldanzi, who started the match against Slovakia, was forced to be substituted around the hour mark.
The Giallorossi midfielder had just earned a free kick on the edge of the area after a good individual move, but once he ended up on the ground his physical condition immediately appeared worrying.
Baldanzi was in fact forced to leave the pitch, accompanied off the pitch on the shoulders of the national team’s medical staff: at first the player seemed to have a problem with his thigh, but when he left the pitch his hand lingered on his knee.
Once on the bench, the player applied ice to the joint. The extent and type of his physical problem is yet to be assessed further: Italy, but also Roma, are keeping their fingers crossed.
