FC Barcelona secured a convincing 2-1 victory over Newcastle United on Thursday night at St. James’ Park in their first UEFA Champions League game of the season.
However, there is not much time for the Blaugrana to relax and reflect on their win as they take on Getafe in La Liga on Sunday.
Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona have received mixed news, as far as the fitness concerns in the squad are concerned, heading into Sunday’s game vs Getafe.
The good news is that key defender Pau Cubarsi will be available to face the Madrilenian club at Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The 18-year-old centre-half had to be taken off around the 70th minute against Newcastle due to some discomfort in his knee.

Cubarsi was seen icing the area while on the bench during the rest of the match and trained separately from the squad earlier today during the team’s recovery session.
It raised some concerns about his availability for Sunday, but tests since then suggest it was no more than a knock. As such, Cubarsi is expected to be fit and ready for Getafe.
The same cannot be said about Lamine Yamal, however, as he is still struggling with pubic discomfort that kept him out against Valencia and Newcastle.
Lamine continues daily rehab work at the Ciutat Esportiva, but both the medical staff and the player agree that the priority is to avoid risks, and he will thus miss the Getafe game.
The target is to have him back for the following La Liga fixtures and, most importantly, for the Champions League tie against PSG.
