Barcelona will be rummaging through the free-agent market for top-quality players they can bring to Spotify Camp Nou this summer.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona are not interested in Bernardo Silva even though he will leave Manchester City for free at the end of the season.
Barcelona had shown serious interest in signing him in 2022, but could not get a deal over the line.
The ‘irreplaceable‘ Portuguese international reportedly wants to join Barca this summer, but they have no plans to sign him.
It is hard to see where Silva fits into Barca’s starting XI. The Catalan club already boasts strong first-team players who can keep Silva out.
Barcelona have Lamine Yamal and Roony Bardghji for the right wing and more than enough midfielders to operate in the engine room.
Unsurprisingly, Silva is not on Barcelona’s shortlist with the club looking for centre-backs, full-backs, a left-winger and a back-up goalkeeper this summer.
Barcelona do not need him, and more importantly, cannot prioritise him.
Serie A presents a far more logical and rewarding destination.
Juventus are crying out for creativity in the final third, while AC Milan lack someone who can unlock stubborn defences.
Silva’s intelligence, technical quality, and versatility would make him an instant focal point in Italy.
The financial muscle of the Saudi Pro League and the growing appeal of Major League Soccer cannot be ignored, especially for a player approaching the latter stages of his career.
But if he still craves elite European relevance, Serie A is the obvious fit.
