FC Barcelona always tends to keep an eye out on the market for possible opportunities. After all, the club’s financial situation requires them to be a bit more cautious than others when it comes to expending their resources. Fortunately, Barcelona seems to have a good eye for catching promising deals.

However, at times, even exit operations can prove to be crucial if they are negotiated right. For La Blaugrana, they can prove to be financially beneficial through a number of different ways. While it is better to get a significant transfer fee upfront at times, it is also important to know when a sell-on or rights-based percentage is better as well.

Even now, there are several former Barcelona players who have some kind of sell-on clause attached to their current contract. However, one name in particular to keep an eye on is that of Spanish right-back Oscar Mingueza.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona is particularly attentive about his situation because it seems unlikely that he will renew his contract with Celta Vigo beyond 2026. Moreover, with his current club unwilling to let him go for anything under his €20 million release clause, it could prove to be beneficial for Barça with transfer rumours now popping up.

After all, the report suggests that the player continues to be linked to various clubs and that interest from Russia has been strong recently. Beyond that, clubs from Italy, France, and even the English Premier League have reportedly made inquiries regarding the player’s situation.

A significant clause remains active

Moreover, with Celta Vigo being adamant about letting go of him only if the €20 million release clause is paid, Barcelona could end up getting half of it. With the Catalan club still retaining a 50% sell-on clause, this could prove to be a significant deal if a sale ends up taking place.

Previously, it was even exclusively reported here at Sempre Barca that he remained a viable option to reinforce the right-back position as a contingency option. Still, if he does end up being sold by Celta Vigo this summer, the Catalan giants would not mind the financial boost at all.
