Barcelona midfielder Gavi rejoined first-team training on Thursday after five months out following knee surgery.

Gavi back with the group

Barcelona received boost on Thursday as Gavi took part in first-team training for first time in five month. The midfielder had been sidelined after undergoing surgery on the meniscus in his knee.

Barcelona shared photos from the session on their official social media accounts writing that it was joy to see Gavi training again with the group.

His presence marked important step in his recovery after a long period away from competitive action.

Return date still being managed carefully

According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have not yet fixed clear date for Gavi’s return to matches. The club continuing to take a cautious approach to his fitness, with medical staff keen to avoid any setbacks.

Despite that caution, reports suggest the midfielder is expected to return to action before the end of the month, provided his progress continues without issues.

Flick urges patience

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick recently spoke about Gavi’s situation and stressed the need for calm. He explained that the player is improving day by day in training and responding well to the workload.

Flick said there is no need to rush the process adding that the most important thing is for Gavi to come back in good condition. He noted that return in February would be positive but only if the midfielder is fully ready.

Squad fitness update

Barcelona also received good news elsewhere in the squad. Pedri & Marcus Rashford have both recovered from injury and are expected to be available for the match against Levante on Sunday.
