With 2 wins and 1 draw, FC Barcelona have not really had a bad start to the 2025-26 season, in which they will be defending their La Liga title. However, Hansi Flick has already made his dissatisfaction with the team clear on some occasions.
The most elaborate of these criticisms came after the 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano, when Flick said in the post-match presser that: “ego kills success, the important thing is the team.“
As Mundo Deportivo has reported, the German coach further explained his thoughts on this matter as he spoke to the press ahead of tonight’s game against Valencia. The German tactician once again demanded 100% from his players:
“With 60-70% it’s not enough, and that’s what I want to instill. The fans deserve 100%. We have to return with this attitude.”
Flick also took personal responsibility to ensure outside matters do not keep players from playing at their best level:
“There are things that happen on the field or in the dressing room, and it’s my job to resolve them. The most important thing is that the team stays focused on what it has to do. The difference between good players and very good ones is correcting their mistakes and knowing what needs to be done.”
Hopefully, the message would have been delivered to the Barcelona players that Hansi Flick wanted, the team would get back to winning ways tonight against Valencia, especially as they are also set to start a difficult UEFA Champions League campaign this week.
