Barcelona sporting director Deco has on Friday confirmed the club’s efforts to tie a crucial member of the club’s midfield ranks down to fresh terms.

The player in question? Pedri.

Youngster Pedri is for his part of course fresh off his return from another spell on the sidelines.

And the 21-year-old has slotted seamlessly back into the setup of new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick, looking set to continue playing a pivotal role at the Camp Nou across the German’s time in the dugout.

Safe to say, then, that it should not come as much of a surprise to hear of those behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital being hard at work to extend Pedri’s contract with the club for the long-term.

Speaking at the ‘Thinking Football’ summit late this week, the aforementioned Deco was drawn on a potential contract renewal for Pedri in the near future.

And the Portuguese, as cited by Diario AS, went on to confirm:

“We are working on that at the club.”
