FC Barcelona are set to play one final important game of the 2025/2026 season tonight as they face Real Madrid in La Liga. While every El Clasico is a special game for both sides, tonight’s match could prove to be particularly eventful for the Blaugranes.
For starters, this can turn out to be the first El Clasico in history in which either of the two sides clinches the league title. Even a draw would confirm the Catalans as the champions of Spain.
Meanwhile, as noted by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona can also draw level with Real Madrid in the total number of wins in El Clasico history if they manage to get all three points tonight.
As things stand, the Merengues have won 106 Clasicos, while the Blaugranes have won 105, with another 52 games ending in draws between the two rivals.
The Catalans are also currently behind in terms of total goals scored in the fixture, having scored 439 goals compared to the capital side’s 444.
However, recent meetings between the two sides have gone in Barcelona’s favour. Hansi Flick’s side have already beaten Real Madrid in three finals across this season and the last, winning the Supercopa de España finals by scorelines of 5-2 and 3-2, before also winning the Copa del Rey final 3-2 thanks to Jules Kounde’s extra-time winner.
Interestingly, the last ten Clasicos have seen both teams win five games each. Even then, Barcelona hold a slight edge in goals scored in these matches, having found the back of the net 24 times compared to Real Madrid’s 20.
It remains to be seen whether Barcelona can also reduce the overall goals gap tonight in what is clearly shaping up to be another very exciting La Liga encounter.
