La Liga giants Barcelona have this weekend been dealt another altogether concerning blow on the personnel front.

This comes amid an update on the wellbeing of key defender Ronald Araújo.

Stopper Araújo, for his part, was forced into a premature departure from Uruguay’s Copa América quarter-final showdown with Brazil in the early hours of Sunday.

En route to an eventual penalty shootout victory for La Celeste, the 25-year-old lasted just half an hour, before limping out of the action in evident distress, with what appeared to be a muscular issue.

And as much, it would appear, is set to keep Araújo on the sidelines for some time.

As per a report from Barcelona insider Javier Miguel of Diario AS, the early feelings surrounding the defender are ‘negative’.

Araújo is understood to have picked up ‘an injury to the biceps femoris left leg’.

Should as much be confirmed, the South American will likely be unavailable for selection for the next six to eight weeks, ruling him out of the start of the new club season.
