According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona defender Andreas Christensen participated in the recovery session, offering Hansi Flick a welcome boost ahead of the upcoming La Liga clash against Celta Vigo.

The Blaugrana resumed training at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper following their frustrating 3-3 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League.

The outlet mentions that this session focused on recovery for the starters, while the substitutes and fringe players underwent a more intense workout on the pitch.

Among those training with the group was Christensen, who is recovering from a calf injury in his right leg.

His condition has improved significantly, and his availability for Sunday’s game will depend on how he responds in the coming days.

What happened to Christensen?

The defender’s return could not have come at a better time. Barcelona’s defensive structure has been under scrutiny after recent lapses, and Flick is eager to have his experienced centre-back fit again to stabilise the backline.

Notably, Christensen trained with the group on Tuesday, and the likelihood of his inclusion in the squad for the Celta Vigo game is quite high.

Adding to Flick’s concerns, Eric Garcia is now expected to miss the match against Celta Vigo after suffering a blow to the nose against Club Brugge.

The defender will be given time to recover, leaving the manager with fewer defensive options once again.

Interestingly, Christensen was initially expected to receive medical clearance before the clash with Club Brugge, but he withdrew from training at the last minute, prompting fears of a setback.

However, those concerns have since been dismissed. Sources close to the player have clarified that his early exit from training was planned, part of a load management programme designed in coordination with Flick.

In short, there is no new injury concern for Christensen, and his recovery is progressing as expected.
