Barcelona will be looking to get back to winning ways as they take on Sevilla at the Spotify Camp Nou this weekend.

The Catalans have a healthy four-point lead at the top but cannot afford a slip-up against a Sevilla side vying for midfield places.

Heading into this crucial game, Barcelona star Pau Cubarsi was present at the Mediterranean International Cup event.

Cubarsi and Barcelona Femeni star Kika Nazareth are serving as the tournament’s ambassadors this time.

During the event, the La Masia defender talked about the team’s upcoming clash against Sevilla, among other things.

Cubarsi on Sevilla, Copa Del Rey and more

Reacting to a suggestion of playing Real Madrid week in week out, Cubarsi said the team is focused on the next league game against Sevilla.

“The schedule is already demanding; imagine playing against Madrid multiple times in a week. But for now, we have to focus on the next game against Sevilla,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).

Sevilla haven’t won at Camp Nou in 23 and a half years, as highlighted by their coach Matias Almeyda in the pre-match presser. However, he remains confident in his team and is looking for a ‘perfect’ result.

Soon after the Sevilla game, Cubarsi said Barcelona will focus on the midweek clash against Newcastle United, with the Catalans looking to secure a berth in the quarterfinals of the UCL.

“Then we’ll focus on Wednesday’s match, and if we advance – which we surely will because we’re going to give it our all – whoever comes, we’ll be ready to leave everything on the field,” he added.

Cubarsi went on to talk about the Copa Del Rey, particularly after the heartbreaking 4-3 aggregate defeat at the hands of Atletico Madrid.

“It was a shame not to reach the final. I remembered the disallowed goal at the Metropolitano, but also that we didn’t play well there. We need to demand more of ourselves,” he said.

Finally, the young defender lamented a new rule that only allows captains to speak to the referee.

“Now it’s difficult to speak to them with the new rule that only the team captain can do so. If you’re angry about one of their decisions, the best thing to do is leave,” the Barça defender concluded,” he concluded.
