FC Barcelona have already secure their first signing of the summer with Anthony Gordon arriving from Newcastle United.

Work is now being one to seal the free-transfer signing of Bernardo Silva, even though Atletico Madrid are pushing to secure the Portuguese international’s service.

Reports earlier today suggested that Barça had to finalise a sale, either of Marc Casado or Roony Bardghji, in order to land the 31-year-old versatile midfielder.

No sale required

However, now, according to journalist Gianluigi Longari, Barcelona do not have to make any player sales in order to complete Silva’s signing.

The journalist adds that there is an approval from everyone at the club for the deal and an agreement has already been secured.

Some finer details of the contract need to be finalised before the signing can be confirmed, and as such, the transfer is very much imminent.

Dream come true for Silva

It is no secret that Silva has dreamt of joining Barcelona for a while now, while the Blaugrana themselves have pursued his signing for a number of summers.

Things did not align in the past due to various factors, including the club’s financial restrictions.

But, everything seems to have fallen in place this time around, with Silva becoming available as a free agent and being willing to take a major pay cut to secure his dream move.

The 31-year-old’s addition promises to be a shrewd one for the Catalans as he can operate in multiple roles in attack and midfield while adding valuable experience and leadership to what is a relatively young squad.
