Karl Etta Eyong is fast becoming one of the most talked-about players in La Liga, with the young striker producing a series of consistent performances for Levante.

Aged just 22, Eyong already has six goals and three assists to his name so far this season. His brilliant performances have led to interest from several clubs across Europe, including Barcelona.

With the Catalans looking to find a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, Eyong has emerged as the ideal target.

Barcelona emerge as likely suitor for Eyong

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Cameroonian international is greatly admired at the club and is a top target to replace the 37-year-old Lewandowski, whose contract expires at the end of this season.

Barça is considered the closest option and has a clear advantage over the rest of the competitors. This is partly because, at 17, Eyong proudly wore the Barça jersey and has professed great admiration for the Catalan club.

However, nothing is decided yet, as Barcelona faces a massive race for his signature. In Spain, Real Madrid are also monitoring him.

The competition from the Premier League is even more fierce, with Manchester City, Manchester United, and Arsenal all keen to sign the 22-year-old.

A crucial factor in this transfer saga is the player’s timeline. Eyong wants to settle his future in the upcoming January transfer window, rather than waiting until the summer. His intention is for a team to finalise his transfer during the winter.

Given that he has already played for two different clubs this season (Villarreal and Levante), league regulations make him ineligible to play for a third. Therefore, he would remain on loan at his current club, Levante, until June 30th.
