Barcelona have entered the race to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this summer, according to Diario Sport.

The Catalans are ready to go all out to secure the England international’s signature. Barca want a loan deal that they can potentially make permanent.

United manager Ruben Amorim has put the 27-year-old on the chopping block, and he is being hawked around Europe. However, his salary remains a stumbling block for most parties.

AC Milan showed concrete interest but reportedly wanted United to cover a chunk of his wages, and the Premier League giants refused.

Several clubs, including Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, are looking for the perfect formula to snap up the Man United star, but all deals have hit an impasse.

Barca are the latest to show interest, and sporting director Deco is weighing up the feasibility of signing Rashford.

They could use another left-sided forward, but a deal looks nigh impossible as Barca are struggling financially. They are currently making plans to auction memorabilia to make some funds.

Lionel Messi’s shirt from a win over Real Madrid in April 2017 and a sticker commemorating his debut are among the items the club want to sell to generate funds.

Club president Joan Laporta was pictured punching the air after registering Dani Olmo and Pau Victor for the second half of the season.

The club needs to focus on resuscitating their finances, and a move for Rashford would do more damage to their already debilitating books.

Because of their precarious financial state, their pursuit of Rashford seems more like a pipe dream.

He would undoubtedly bolster Hansi Flick’s squad, but their inability to afford his wages or meet Man United’s demands makes this a highly improbable deal.

Barca should focus on fostering homegrown talent rather than indulging in extravagant ventures.

The Rashford saga is another reminder of the stark contrast between Barcelona’s glorious ambitions and their harsh financial reality.
