The transfer team at La Liga giants Barcelona have set their sights on the signature of a member of the midfield ranks at Arsenal.

That’s according to English outlet Caught Offside, who point towards Thomas Partey as the player in question.

Ghanaian international Partey is as things stand due to depart Arsenal upon the close of the campaign.

Despite continuing to play a leading role for Mikel Arteta’s side, the 31-year-old’s contract terms are up in the summer, with little progress having been made in negotiations towards a renewal.

This situation has piqued attentions at a number of leading clubs across the continent, not least the aforementioned Barcelona.

Amid an alleged search for reinforcements in the middle of the park with a view to next season, the Blaugrana have earmarked Partey as the ideal profile.

The Ghanaian boasts previous experience in La Liga with Atlético Madrid, with his impending availability as a free agent having sparked ‘concrete interest’ on the part of the cash-strapped Camp Nou board.
