Barcelona are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Dortmund striker Serhou Guirassy next summer, according to BILD.
The La Liga champions are on the lookout for a long-term successor for Robert Lewandowski, whose contract expires next summer.
They have decided against handing a new deal for the 37-year-old, given his age and recent fitness issues.
Despite a prolific 2024/25 campaign, in which he netted 42 goals, the Polish international has started in only one La Liga game this season and scored a brace against Valencia.
Ferran Torres has seemingly moved ahead of Lewandowski in the pecking order following his brilliant run of form.
Manager Hansi Flick has confidence in the former Manchester City star, who has scored four goals and provided an assist in five games.
While Torres has the potential to spearhead the attack in the long run, Barca are still looking to bring in a high-profile centre forward next summer.
With presidential elections scheduled for next year, current president Joan Laporta and notable candidates such as Victor Font will look to make a big-money signing to win the fans’ trust.
Guirassy has emerged as one of the targets for the Blaugrana following his red-hot scoring form.
The 29-year-old concluded the last season with 38 goals and nine assists. He finished as the joint-top scorer in the Champions League alongside Raphinha with 13 goals.
Guirassy has continued his excellent run this season, bagging four goals in four Bundesliga games.
Dortmund are open to selling Guirassy for a considerable offer. They are planning to set a price tag worth €100 million for the Guinean international, whose contract runs until 2028.
Flick is an admirer of the former Stuttgart star’s talent and views him as an ideal striker for his system.
However, Barca’s financial limitations again raise doubts over the possibility of making big-money moves in the upcoming transfer windows.
The Catalan giants are also keeping tabs on Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez.
