In recent years, FC Barcelona have sold several of their players to other clubs while retaining partial economic rights over them. These arrangements have occasionally brought the Catalans much-needed funds from transfers of players no longer at the club.

However, Barcelona appear set to miss out on one such opportunity, as Mundo Deportivo, citing Fabrizio Romano, reports that defender Oscar Mingueza has reached an agreement to join Juventus at the end of this season.

The 26-year-old has spent four seasons at Celta de Vigo, and while he attracted interest from five other clubs, Italy will be his next destination.

Mingueza will become a free agent in June 2026, as he has not renewed his contract with Celta. The defender is expected to remain at the club until the end of the season, meaning he will leave entirely for free.

This comes as disappointing news for Barcelona, who held 50% of the economic rights to any future transfer fee for Mingueza. With his contract expiring, neither Celta nor Barcelona will benefit financially from the move.

For Celta, the loss will be significant. Mingueza has scored 1 goal and provided 4 assists in 23 appearances this season, showcasing his versatility, strong defensive skills, and excellent ball-playing ability.

Celta Coach Claudio Giráldez will now need to find a replacement to fill the gap left by a player who has become a key part of the team.

While this is a financial setback for Barcelona, the club and the Culers will undoubtedly wish Mingueza the best as he begins the next chapter of his career in Italy.
