A new name is gathering strength behind the scenes at La Liga champions Barcelona, in the race to become the club’s next starting centre-forward.
This comes amid confirmation that Harry Kane is increasingly considered the right profile of player to step into Hansi Flick’s frontline.
Barcelona are of course expected to bring in fresh blood at centre-forward for next season.
With Robert Lewandowski’s contract terms due to expire, the Blaugrana require a new guaranteed source of goals.
Previously, Atlético Madrid standout Julián Alvarez was considered the favourite to fill this role.
As per a report from Mundo Deportivo, however, the Argentine World Cup winner has over recent days been overtaken by Bayern Munich standout Harry Kane.
This comes for a whole host of reasons.
Firstly, the Englishman is considered a more guaranteed and prolific source of goals than Alvarez.
On top of as much, at 32 years of age, Kane would considerably more affordable than the likes of Alvarez or Erling Haaland, both of whom would require an already cash-strapped Camp Nou brass to break the bank.
