La Liga giants Barcelona are locked in a transfer battle with their counterparts at German outfit Borussia Dortmund.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards as much as coming amid the ongoing saga surrounding the future of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.
Frontman Rashford is for his part widely expected to depart Old Trafford before the month is out, with the England international eyeing up a loan exit with a view to a permanent move in the summer.
With Rashford still held in high regard across the continent, a whole host of clubs have in turn expressed an interest in his signature.
The race, however, is now considered as having been narrowed to two clear frontrunners.
The sides in question come in the form of Barcelona, and Borussia Dortmund.
The latter held a fresh round of talks with Rashford and his representatives on Friday, eager to repeat their recent success with English players.
But the 27-year-old himself, it is claimed, has eyes for Barcelona.
As per Sport:
‘Rashford has not yet taken the final step (to join Dortmund), as he maintains his preference to wait for Barça. According to sources close to the player’s entourage, his dream is still to wear Barça (colours).’
With Hansi Flick having given the green light to the deal, too, it is now up to Deco and co. to clear up the necessary space on the Camp Nou wage bill, with Ansu Fati the leading candidate to head out on loan.
