The Champions League semi-final first leg between Barcelona and Inter is expected to go ahead as usual despite nationwide power cuts causing widespread disruption across Spain and Portugal at the beginning of the week.

Barcelona-Inter unaffected by Spain power cuts

A state of emergency was declared in Spain on Monday after power cuts plunged the nation into darkness. Around ‘99%’ of the nation’s power has been restored as of Tuesday morning, according to various outlets in the UK and Italy.

Despite the power outage across the nation on Monday, the Barcelona squad were unaffected and were still able to train as usual under Hansi Flick for the Champions League clash coming up on Wednesday night.

Inter are also expected to be unaffected heading into the Champions League semi-finals. The Nerazzurri have received assurance that their flight over to Catalonia will not be impacted.

Simone Inzaghi and his squad are expected to travel over to Barcelona at around 16.00 BST once their training session on Tuesday afternoon is complete.

The teams will meet at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys on Wednesday night, kicking off at 20.00 BST, before meeting in Milano for the second leg in San Siro next Tuesday. The winner of this tie will go on to face either Arsenal or PSG in the eventual final in Munich.
