Marcus Rashford has become the most talked-about figure in the ongoing winter transfer window.

The Manchester United forward has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford, with new coach Ruben Amorim freezing him out of the squad.

Rashford, therefore, is keen on leaving Old Trafford, with Barcelona emerging as one of the potential destinations.

Battle emerging between Barcelona and Dortmund

However, as reported by SPORT, Barcelona are set to face immense competition from Borussia Dortmund.

This comes on the back of Dortmund representatives recently meeting Rashford’s agent to present a formal offer for the Englishman.

It appears the Bundesliga giants are determined to sign the Man United forward, as they look to replace the outgoing Donyell Malen.

The report adds that Dortmund have presented an offer that is higher than Rashford’s other suitors and has satisfied Manchester United.

Not to mention, these two clubs share a strong relationship thanks to previous deals involving the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Jadon Sancho, Adnan Januzaj etc.

Barcelona’s only hope

That being said, Rashford is yet to make a decision on his future. He has to choose between Dortmund and Barcelona, as his next destination.

Although the offer from Dortmund has enticed Man United, the deal cannot be facilitated unless the player himself wants to join the Black and Yellows.

This is where Barcelona still have a chance to salvage the deal.

As happened in the past, Barça will look to entice the player by offering him the prospect of becoming a key entity in the first-team. The role of Hansi Flick becomes crucial, in this respect.

While they do that, it will be essential for Barça to try and get rid of someone like Ansu Fati as they desperately look to create space in the salary bill to accommodate Rashford.
