In his first season at Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappe has ten goals and two assists in 17 La Liga games so far this season, a further three goal contributions in the UEFA Champions League, and one goal in the Spanish Super Cup.
For him to face criticism despite such numbers only speaks volumes about his greatness at such a young age, for the standards he set for himself at PSG were astronomical.
Mbappe is clearly improving with every passing day and looking more comfortable, and it is clear that his best is yet to come.
Speaking in a recent interview via Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona and France legend Thierry Henry came out in support of Kylian Mbappe and stated that talks of him struggling at Real Madrid were over-exaggerated.
“When you look closely at the level of goals, you can’t say that his start in Madrid is not good,” he said.

He then elaborated on how it always took time to adapt to a new club and philosophy, saying,
“It takes time to learn how to play, especially when you don’t have a base and I can say that because I didn’t have a base. But I hope it evolves and must have progress.”
Henry then spoke on how it was understandable to judge Mbappe by the sky-high standards he set for himself in France but reiterated how it was important to even see the current circumstance.
“Here we are judging in relation to what he did before. It is completely normal – when you are not used to it, to find yourself in a certain situation where your weaknesses are visible. Before we never saw them.”
Finally, he called for the double standards to be tapered down and defended Mbappe aggressively, saying he was not a robot but a human too.
“At one point, everyone thought it was a robot. He is not a robot, he is a human being who has emotions like everyone else. And from time to time, he gets angry and raises his hands.”
