Frenkie de Jong’s future at Barcelona is still up in the air as he enters the final year of his contract. Several European clubs have shown interest, with one Premier League team reportedly making him a top target.
Last October, SPORT revealed that Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain were all monitoring de Jong’s situation.
Although de Jong has expressed a desire to stay at Barcelona, PSG’s history of signing players from the club makes them a strong contender. On the other hand, Barcelona seems open to selling, with Mundo Deportivo noting that their financial struggles have pushed a new contract further down their list of priorities.
Recently, CaughtOffside reported that Liverpool have added de Jong to their list of potential summer transfers. However, his wages could be an obstacle.
Barcelona are said to be willing to let de Jong go for around €35 million, but his high salary has raised concerns for Liverpool and other clubs in the mix.

De Jong’s contract runs until 2026, and he’s mentioned he would consider leaving if he feels he’s not making a significant impact at the club.
He has previously been linked with Manchester United, and there are reports that Saudi Arabian clubs have shown interest as well. However, it seems Barcelona’s sporting director Deco is open to discussing a potential new contract, according to Relevo.
Pol Ballús of The Athletic recently reported that Frenkie de Jong is eager to stay at Barcelona and is currently in discussions about a new contract. His current deal is worth €19 million per year.
