Barcelona are reportedly preparing to intensify their pursuit of Canadian star Alphonso Davies, responding to an urgent call from manager Hansi Flick to strengthen the club’s defence.
Flick, who has experience working with Davies, sees him as a key figure who could resolve defensive issues that have troubled the club in recent seasons.
According to SPORT, despite Barcelona’s ongoing financial difficulties, they are determined not to give up on bringing Davies when his contract with Bayern Munich ends.
Davies’ contract situation has attracted attention from top clubs, including Real Madrid, who appear to be the front-runners in securing the player’s future.
Real Madrid have reportedly been working on this potential transfer for months, focusing on a deal that would bring him to their squad in 2025.

However, Barcelona still hold onto hopes of signing the Canadian talent, seeing this as an opportunity to make a significant defensive upgrade.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich have made efforts to retain Davies, recently presenting him with a new contract offer. This renewal proposal is Bayern’s attempt to convince Davies to stay and avoid leaving on a free transfer.
With his current contract set to expire, Bayern are eager for a positive response from Davies’ representatives, hoping to keep the highly sought-after defender at the club.
However, if Davies decides to explore new opportunities, both Barcelona and Real Madrid are expected to go all-in for his signature.
Flick’s interest in Davies adds another layer of intrigue, as the coach believes the Canadian could address defensive gaps for Barcelona.
While Bayern Munich’s renewal offer has yet to receive a response, Barcelona and Real Madrid are poised to compete fiercely should Davies choose to move on at the season’s end.
