FC Barcelona continue to look beyond their academy pipeline as they aim to secure some of the most promising young talents in world football. The Catalan club has developed a habit of identifying rising stars early, and their latest target appears to be one of the most exciting prospects emerging from Africa.

According to a report by Africa Foot, via Mundo Deportivo, FC Barcelona are now closing in on the signing of Malian teenager Seydou Dembele. The 18-year-old midfielder, who currently plays for JMG Academy Bamako, is believed to be on the verge of joining the Catalan giants, with the deal potentially being completed in the coming days.

The report highlights Barcelona’s proactive approach in the youth market, with the club acting swiftly to gain an advantage over rival suitors. In this case, the Catalans have reportedly overtaken Chelsea in the race.

Seydou Dembele is widely regarded as one of the standout prospects in Malian football. Despite standing at around 1.65 metres, he compensates with agility, balance, and an impressive burst of acceleration that makes him difficult to contain in one-on-one situations. His natural left foot is a major weapon, allowing him to create and finish chances with precision.

From a technical perspective, he combines close control with effective dribbling and a powerful shot. He is also a threat from set pieces, adding another dimension to his attacking profile. Tactically, he offers valuable versatility, capable of playing centrally as an attacking midfielder or operating from the right flank, where he frequently cuts inside to influence play.

At international level, he has already made his mark with Mali’s U-17 side, scoring six goals in 14 appearances. These performances have only strengthened his growing reputation and explain the increasing interest from European clubs.

The Catalan club views Seydou Dembele as a developmental investment, with the expectation that he will initially join the youth setup and continue his progression within the system.

For now, the move is not yet official, but as per the report from MD, the Blaugranes appear well-positioned to complete the signing soon.
