Barcelona are plotting a summer move for Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram.

According to Spanish news outlet SPORT, the Catalan giants have added the France international to their extensive shortlist of potential targets ahead of next summer.

Barcelona are planning for life after Robert Lewandowski, who is expected to leave Spotify Camp Nou when his contract runs out at the end of the season.

The La Liga powerhouse are stepping up their search for a new number nine.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick wants a prolific goalscorer to lead the line next season, and the club has already started making moves to grant his request.

Thuram is the latest name on Barcelona’s extensive shortlist. The Catalan giants are reportedly open to negotiating with Inter for the French striker.

Thuram’s contract with the Serie A leaders runs until 2028, so Inter are under no immediate pressure to cash in on the “phenomenal” forward.

He is reportedly valued at around €60 million, but luring him away from San Siro Stadium will be difficult.

Thuram could be the experienced forward Barcelona may need if they decide against signing a younger prospect. But Inter have shown no indication that they’ll be willing to cash in on Thuram next summer.

With the Serie A giants in a strong negotiating position, Barcelona may need to table an offer in excess of €80m to tempt Inter’s resolve.

This is not the first time Thuram has been linked with Barcelona. He was offered to the Spanish side when his contract at Monchengladbach was ending in 2023.

At that time, Barcelona chose to invest in youth and potential instead, bringing in Vitor Roque.

Barcelona have also expressed an interest in Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane, who has surprisingly been tipped to leave the Bundesliga champions next summer.

Another player on the Blaugranas’ summer wishlist is Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez. Both clubs are no strangers to doing business, but Atletico will likely demand a hefty fee for their striker.
