A big day arrives for FC Barcelona in La Liga with an opportunity that they simply cannot afford to waste. With an away game against Getafe now lined up for them, the Catalan giants could extend their lead at the top of the league even more following Real Madrid’s recent draw against Real Betis.

However, this will not be an easy game under any circumstances. For starters, both Lamine Yamal and Raphinha are unavailable, so Hansi Flick will definitely need to tweak his usual game plan. Keeping that in mind, some players will have to step up in these times of need.

Goalkeeper: Joan Garcia

A guarantee between the sticks, Joan Garcia will almost certainly be starting this game. While his shot-stopping will be crucial, Barça will also need his distribution to help break through Getafe’s structure.

Right-back: Jules Kounde

The Frenchman could start on the right flank, but he will likely have to do a lot more both in attack and defense considering Lamine Yamal’s absence. He has the quality and experience to do it, but he needs to be as sharp as possible while on the field.

Centre-back: Pau Cubarsi

After keeping a clean sheet against Celta Vigo in his last game, Pau Cubarsi will be tasked with yet another massive challenge here. The youngster will need to keep Getafe at bay while ensuring that his distribution is great as well.

Centre-back: Gerard Martin

Having proven on several occasions this season that he has what it takes to start for Barça, Gerard Martin will likely be Cubarsi’s starting partner in defense. However, he will need to maintain his good run of form in these last few games.

Left-back: Joao Cancelo

After surviving an injury scare in the last game, Joao Cancelo is back in the Barcelona squad and is ready to start. His trickery and creativity from the flanks could be crucial to opening up Getafe’s defense in this game.

CDM: Frenkie de Jong

With Eric Garcia unavailable for this game due to suspension, and Marc Bernal still sidelined, Frenkie de Jong might have to step up and start. Fortunately, the Dutchman possesses a lot of quality and he can really help Barça out here.

CDM: Pedri

Delivered a top performance against Celta Vigo in his last game, and Barcelona will need more of his magic here if they want to win this game and get a good result.

RAM: Roony Bardghji

With Lamine Yamal injured, this is a big opportunity for Roony Bardghji if Hansi Flick decides to start him. In these final few games of the season, the young winger could truly prove his worth to this team.

CAM: Dani Olmo

Capable of operating in tight spaces and being efficient with his decisions, Barça will need Dani Olmo to be at his very best if they want a good result here and if he ends up starting.

LAM: Ferran Torres

Currently enjoying a good run of form, it might be a good idea to keep starting Ferran Torres. The Spaniard has a way of finding the back of the net one way or another, and Barcelona could really use that here.

Centre-forward: Robert Lewandowski

The Polish ace has the ability to create something out of nothing when it comes to scoring goals. Moreover, his experience and striker’s instinct could come in handy against a pragmatic side like Getafe.
