Barcelona are preparing to open talks with Ferran Torres over a new contract, but the club know the coming months could prove decisive in determining whether the Spanish forward remains at Camp Nou beyond 2027.
Fresh from becoming Spain’s hero in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final, Ferran’s stock has risen significantly across Europe.
His winning goal against Argentina has only strengthened his reputation, with several clubs now monitoring his situation while Barcelona work to secure his long-term future.
According to journalist Nil Sola, speaking on El Larguero, Barcelona are ready to offer the 26-year-old a new deal, although there is still uncertainty over whether an agreement will be reached, leaving the Catalan club facing an important decision.
It is clear that Barcelona want Ferran Torres to remain part of Hansi Flick’s project and are expected to meet the forward next week to discuss a contract extension.
The Spain international is currently tied to the club until 2027, but Barcelona are aware that allowing the deal to run down would significantly weaken their position.

If a renewal cannot be agreed, the club would consider a sale rather than risk losing one of their most valuable attacking players on a free transfer.
At this stage, however, Barcelona are not aware of any official offers for Ferran despite growing speculation surrounding his future.
At the same time, Financial Fair Play regulations are also influencing the timeline.
While both parties are expected to begin discussions soon, Barcelona are unlikely to complete any renewal before September due to the club’s financial restrictions.
That delay could leave the door open for interested clubs to continue monitoring developments throughout the remainder of the transfer window.

Ferran’s performances for Spain have attracted attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
According to reports, Paris Saint-Germain have already made contact with the player’s camp as Luis Enrique looks to strengthen his attacking options.
The PSG manager knows Ferran well from their time together with the Spanish national team and sees him as an ideal addition following expected changes in his forward line.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid have also been credited with an interest in the Barcelona forward.
Although there is no indication that either club has submitted a formal proposal, the growing list of admirers just shows how highly Ferran’s performances are now regarded following his World Cup-winning campaign.
