Barcelona face a crucial match-up against FC Copenhagen later today as they fight not only for a top-8 finish but a direct ticket to the knockouts.
The situation is relatively favourable for the Catalans, with PSG and Newcastle United set to face off, and one of them assured to drop points.
For Barcelona, a win may well be enough, but doing so with a massive goal margin will only improve their chances. All eyes, thus, will be on the star-studded attacking lineup.
Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, spoke to the media ahead of tonight’s massive UEFA Champions League clash and emphasised how the team’s objective will be not only to win but to ensure a top-8 finish and avoid the playoffs.
“We are not only looking to win, but we are also looking to rank among the top eight.”
He then spoke about what he expected from the game at Spotify Camp Nou against FC Copenhagen.

“[We must] play a good game. [We] will try to win and, in addition, score goals, because it will be important to be among the top eight.”
When asked about the worst-case scenario where Barcelona do not finish in the top eight, Laporta said,
“If we win and this does not happen, we will have to continue fighting, but I trust that we will win tonight.”
Finally, he also commented on how the weather in Catalonia will affect the game and crowd, especially given the torrential rain in recent days.
“I think it will rain, so we will have to cover ourselves. Let people go to the stadium, because seeing Barça at Camp Nou is the best football show you can see.”
