The incident happened in the 63rd minute when the youngster attempted to clear a goalscoring opportunity but his face was met with the right foot of the opposition striker.

Cubarsi began to bleed profusely, though it appears the defender hasn’t suffered any major setback, barring the wounds and stitches.

Cubarsi wants to play against Sociedad

As reported by SPORT, it appears Cubarsi is not too keen on sitting on the sidelines for too long and is, in fact, gunning for a return to the pitch on Sunday.

Barcelona are slated to take on Real Sociedad on Sunday, with the Catalans aiming for another victory that will help them consolidate their position at the top of the league table.

It appears Cubarsi does not want to break his momentum, having built a solid partnership alongside Inigo Martinez at the heart of Barcelona’s backline.

With Ronald Araujo set to return soon, Cubarsi will have no desire to sit back, even for a game.

Barcelona to remain cautious

Barcelona, though, are likely to proceed with caution as they are not too keen on taking any risks with the health of their star defensive prospect.

The Catalans are expected to wait for Cubarsi’s wounds to evolve in the coming days, before taking a final call on his presence against Real Sociedad this Sunday.
