As we approach the final phase of the season, the future of Robert Lewandowski remains uncertain as ever.
The Pole’s contract at Camp Nou expires at the end of the season, at a time when the player has continued to receive offers from abroad.
It is no secret that Lewandowski’s priority is to continue at Barcelona for another year, as he feels capable of continuing at the highest level of football.
According to Cadena SER, Barcelona have made a crucial decision on the future of Lewandowski.
It appears the Catalans are prepared to offer a one-year renewal to the veteran forward, as the club ideally wants him to continue at Camp Nou as well.
Lewandowski, after all, has shown an immense pedigree even at the age of 37, notably scoring a brace in the recent win over Newcastle United.

However, Barcelona have offered Lewandowski a contract with a reduced salary. At present, Lewandowski is one of the highest earners at Barcelona, with a gross salary of €26 million.
But the new deal will see a significant paycut. The club see the Pole as Cristhian Stuani – a seasoned striker, who accepts the role of substitute, comes on and scores at any moment, and helps the new striker adapt.
The Blaugrana also believe Lewandowski can play a key role in training the new striker that the club want to sign, with Julian Alvarez being a top target.
Lewandowski, for his part, is reportedly keen on continuing in Catalonia and is even prepared to take a paycut in order to achieve that goal.
Therefore, it won’t be surprising to see Barcelona soon reach an agreement with the former Borussia Dortmund striker, who will turn 38 by the start of next season.
