Barcelona have reignited their interest in Bournemouth striker Eli Junior Kroupi, according to Spanish outlet Sport.
Barcelona are looking to sign a new striker this summer to replace Robert Lewandowski.
Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez is their main target, but a move looks unlikely at the moment.
Sport now claim that Kroupi is one of the alternatives that Barcelona are considering to strengthen their attacking options.
The La Liga defending champions are said to be keen on completing a deal for the young French striker despite Bournemouth’s reluctance to sell him.
Barcelona sporting director Deco likes Kroupi and he is pushing for his signature.
The 20-year-old enjoyed a brilliant debut season at Bournemouth, scoring 13 goals in 35 appearances, helping the club secure European qualification.
Kroupi’s movement, intelligent link-up play and clinical finishing have made him one of Europe’s most promising young strikers.
Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have also been linked with the France youth international.
However, Bournemouth are in a strong position to keep Kroupi as the Lorient academy graduate has four years left on his contract.
The South Coast club are determined to keep their best players to cope with both domestic and European demands next season. They are also refusing to entertain offers for Alex Scott.
As a result, Barcelona may find it difficult to convince Bournemouth to sell one of their most prized assets.
The Blaugrana have also explored a move for Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane this summer, but the England international rejected the approach.
