Barcelona remain confident of landing La Liga forward as player pushes for Camp Nou move | OneFootball

Barcelona continue to view Julian Alvarez as one of their top transfer targets and remain convinced that a deal can still be completed despite the challenges involved in negotiating with Atletico Madrid.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Catalan giants have not changed their stance on the Argentine forward and continue to believe there is a realistic path towards bringing him to Hansi Flick’s project. 

While the ongoing FIFA World Cup has temporarily shifted attention away from club football, Barça are maintaining their confidence behind the scenes.

Barcelona encouraged by Alvarez’s desire

One of the biggest reasons for Barcelona’s optimism is the player’s desire to move to Camp Nou. 

Internally, there is a belief that Alvarez has already made his intentions known to Atletico Madrid and has prioritised a transfer to Barcelona above any other destination available to him this summer.

The report suggests that Atletico are aware of the striker’s preference but would rather see him move elsewhere. 

On that note, clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal have been viewed as more favourable destinations from Atletico’s perspective, largely because they would prefer not to strengthen a direct La Liga rival.

Amid this drama, Barcelona’s confidence stems from Alvarez resisting efforts to steer him towards alternatives. 

Despite interest from other elite European clubs, the Argentine international is said to have remained focused on the possibility of wearing the Blaugrana shirt.

Arsenal agreement failed to convince the Argentine

The report further claims that Atletico Madrid and Arsenal held discussions in recent weeks regarding a potential transfer. 

In fact, an agreement between the clubs was explored, with the possibility of Alvarez joining Mikel Arteta’s side.

However, the striker was unwilling to proceed with a move that did not align with his personal plans. 

Patience is Barcelona’s biggest weapon

For now, Barcelona are expected to remain patient. The club are not currently preparing an improved offer after their initial €100 million proposal failed to move negotiations forward. 

Instead, there is a growing understanding that this transfer saga could stretch deep into the summer.

The World Cup has naturally slowed discussions, with Alvarez fully focused on international duty. 

Yet from Barcelona’s perspective, the most important detail remains unchanged – Atletico Madrid know where the player wants to play.
