Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that Andreas Christensen could be included in his starting XI to face Deportivo Alavés.
This comes with Ronald Araújo ruled out through a bout of illness.
Stopper Christensen has for his part played just a bit part role for Barcelona across the season to date.
Owing to a combination of fitness problems and competition for places, the Dane has seen just 370 minutes of time on the pitch.
On Saturday, though, he could be afforded the chance to establish himself at the heart of the Blaugrana’s backline.
Speaking during his latest press conference ahead of Barca’s meeting with Deportivo Alavés, Hansi Flick was drawn on his plans at centre-half, with the under-fire Ronald Araújo unavailable, and Eric García likely to continue in midfield.
And the German tactician went on to explain:
“I don’t like to talk about the starting XI, but tomorrow Christensen could be an option to start.”
