A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona would be willing to take on a reduced role, to ensure his place at the club for next season.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who point to Robert Lewandowski as the player in question.

Frontman Lewandowski has for his part taken his place back centre stage in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital over the last 24 hours.

This comes after the Pole proved himself match-winner courtesy of a hat-trick in Barcelona’s 4-2 La Liga victory over Celta Vigo.

As much proved a timely reminder of Lewandowski’s elite goalscoring abilities when firing on all cylinders.

Nevertheless, as things stand, the 37-year-old is primed to depart the Camp Nou in the summer of 2026, upon the expiration of his contract.

But if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, then Lewandowski appears ready to do whatever it takes to extend his Blaugrana stint for another year.

As per a report from Sport:

‘He sees himself capable of contributing one more year in a different role.’

The role envisioned by ‘Lewa’ would involve a reduction in minutes, and willingness to act as a backup to any new centre-forward who may arrive.
