Barcelona star Raphinha has provided an insight into his hopes of one day lifting the Ballon d’Or.
This of course comes in the aftermath of something of a disappointing finish for the Brazilian in this year’s final ‘Golden Ball’ standings.
Raphinha enjoyed nothing short of a spectacular campaign in 2024/25.
En route to Barcelona clinching a domestic treble, the former Leeds United man racked up over 60 direct goal contributions.
Such exploits, over the course of the season, saw Raphinha positioned amongst the favourites to lift the Ballon d’Or.
It therefore came as a major disappointment for the 28-year-old upon the final voting confirming a 5th-placed finish.
Raphinha, though, has evidently not allowed as much to dampen his spirits.
Drawn on his Ballon d’Or hopes during an interview with GQ (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, the gifted winger went on to explain:
“I think I will have the chance to win the Ballon d’Or in the future. Football is full of cycles, I believe I still have many years ahead to reach new goals. I see 5th place as motivation, not pressure. I know my potential.”
