Barcelona star severly affected after shocking chants during Spain vs Egypt | OneFootball

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal was left visibly affected after disturbing chants were heard during Spain’s 0-0 draw against Egypt at the RCDE Stadium, overshadowing what should have been a routine friendly fixture.

According to MARCA, the incident began early in the first half when a section of the crowd started chanting an offensive slogan. 

The situation escalated quickly as more spectators joined in, making the words clearly audible across the stadium.

“Anyone who doesn’t jump is a Muslim.”

The chant was repeated multiple times and spread rapidly online, drawing widespread criticism. 

Despite attempts to control the situation, the same behaviour resurfaced in the second half. 

This time, a larger portion of the crowd reacted with boos, while stadium authorities issued warnings over the public address system.

Lamine Yamal is very affected

In response, the Royal Spanish Football Federation released a statement on social media reinforcing its stance against such behaviour.

“The RFEF stands with our football’s message against racism and condemns any act of violence in stadiums.”

However, the impact had already been felt, as the incident cast a shadow over the match and created a damaging image for Spanish football. 

For Yamal, who is one of the standout figures in the national team and a practising Muslim, the moment was particularly difficult.

Substituted at half-time, the Barcelona forward reportedly returned to the dressing room after the final whistle, deeply shaken, keeping his head down.

Meanwhile, Spain manager Luis de la Fuente strongly condemned the events after the match, stating,

“Total and absolute disgust at the slightest racist or xenophobic act. It is intolerable. 

“These violent individuals, who exploit football, must be removed from society.”

Federation president Rafael Louzan also addressed the situation, calling for firm action to ensure it is not repeated.

“An isolated incident that must not be repeated and that we must put a stop to,” he added.
