Barcelona star to return to starting XI vs Athletic | OneFootball

Barcelona are set to welcome a headline member of the club’s squad back into a starting berth against Athletic Club this weekend.

This comes amid confirmation that Joan García is ready to resume no.1 duties in Hansi Flick’s setup.

Goalkeeper Joan has for his part not taken to the pitch in Barcelona colours since all the way back in September.

After picking up a knee injury just months on from his summer arrival from Espanyol, the 24-year-old was forced under the knife.

Joan has spent recent weeks ramping up his recovery, spotted back in the thick of group activities at the Ciutat Esportiva.

Speaking to the media on the eve of his side’s post-international break return to action on Saturday, Hansi Flick was therefore drawn on the shot-stopper’s availability.

And Barca’s headmaster, as cited by the club’s official social media channels, went on to confirm that Joan will indeed replace Wojciech Szczęsny between the posts against Athletic Club.
