FC Barcelona have been quiet during the summer transfer window so far, but former players of the club continue to be heavily discussed in the market. Following Marc Cucurella’s move to Real Madrid, another former Barça player could now be on his way to another club.
Francisco Trincao, currently representing Portuguese side Sporting, looks set for a move during the ongoing summer transfer window. As per information provided by A Bola (via SPORT), Sporting want to maximise their potential earnings in regards to the 26-year-old former Barcelona winger.
According to the report, the Portuguese outfit is confident about securing a package worth around €50 million for the player, with the Premier League and clubs from Saudi Arabia being the primary suitors. Unfortunately for the Catalan giants, they will not be benefiting from this potentially massive summer transfer.

That is because, as highlighted within the report, La Blaugrana decided to sell the remaining 50% of rights that they had over the player to Sporting back in 2025. Having finalised that particular agreement for just €11 million, this deal was reportedly a decision that surprised the Portuguese outfit as well.
Now, had they retained those rights, a deal such as this could have greatly benefited the Spanish giants. With Sporting looking to pocket €50 million for the winger, Barça would have been entitled to half of that and could have pocketed around €25 million themselves.
Instead, a rushed decision from the past now sees them receive no compensation from this potential move if it ends up materializing. Unfortunately, it seems that decisions and actions from the previous years continue to be a burden that La Blaugrana will have to live with moving forward. As for their own summer transfer plans, most of the club’s operations remain either stalled for now or require patience from the club.
