Journalist Moises Llorens has told Barça Universal that although Barcelona are indeed looking at the transfer market, bringing in a new forward is not their top concern right now.

This stance comes despite the fact that Marc Guiu’s move to Chelsea has raised some eyebrows within the club. Additionally, there’s a cloud of uncertainty surrounding the future of Vitor Roque, which adds another layer of complexity to their situation.

If Barcelona go ahead with the transfer of Roque, the team will be left with Robert Lewandowski as their only true number 9. While it is possible to argue that Ferran Torres could fill in, he does not possess the natural goal-scoring instinct typically found in a centre-forward.

What is Barcelona’s plan then?

Llorens stressed that right now, it is too early to identify a specific replacement. He believes that although Lewandowski is a key player, Barcelona need to consider having another option for the central striker position.

This makes sense, especially when considering that the team’s coach, Hansi Flick, will have a significant influence on any decision made in this regard. However, Barcelona think otherwise.

When it comes to Guiu and Roque, the situation has been evolving. Xavi, the former coach, was not particularly keen on Roque, favouring Guiu instead, especially since Lewandowski is no longer in his prime.

However, when Flick took over from Xavi, the dynamics changed. Initially, reports suggested that Roque would stay with the team. Yet, due to registration issues, it now appears that Barcelona might have no choice but to part ways with him.

Despite being the only player in the squad who closely resembles Lewandowski in terms of playing style, Roque’s future with Barcelona remains uncertain.

His registration is not finalised, and he is not currently in the club’s immediate plans. This has drawn attention from other European clubs, notably Fiorentina and Napoli from Serie A.

For now, the position of the number 9 at Barcelona remains unclear. Although Deco has compiled reports on potential targets, reinforcing this position is not seen as a high priority by the team.

The focus seems to be elsewhere, at least for the time being, leaving fans wondering how the club will navigate these challenges moving forward.
