Barcelona will sell two big names in the summer to accommodate two new signings – report | OneFootball

Hansi Flick’s tenure at Barcelona has largely been a success so far, and it is only now that some doubts are beginning to creep in about his project for the first time.

Yet, what he has achieved with the team so far cannot be discounted, especially when one considers that he has had little support from the club financially for signings.

The Catalans hope to change that next summer, and there is a sense of belief that the financial 1:1 rule can be reached in June pending a few operations.

The usuals, and two surprises

As confirmed by SPORT in a recent update, Deco and Hansi Flick have a relatively clear road map for the upcoming summer transfer window where there will be some big moves in terms of the squad.

There will not be many changes in the team, especially with the core, but it is speculated that two players will have to depart the club in June.

The decision over Robert Lewandowski is a major one for the summer, with the club either set to part ways with the Polish striker or renewing him on significantly lower wages. 

They also wish to put the sagas of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Ansu Fati to bed once and for all, finalising their departures and wiping their hands off their wages and all liabilities.

Beyond the three players mentioned above, however, the administration are prepared to sell two players to make space for two new signings – a centre-forward and a central defender.

As it stands, it remains unknown as to who the players in question are and a decision will be taken based on the squad depth, player participation, and his role in Hansi Flick’s plans. It is not ruled out that the players may be academy graduates.

All matters are currently on hold owing to the presidential elections, but will progress rapidly from next month once the new board takes office. The summer, needless to say, will be a massive one for Barcelona.
