On-loan Barcelona starlet Vitor Roque has this week opened up on his admiration for Real Madrid and Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
Frontman Roque, for his part, of course put pen to paper on terms with Barcelona in January of this year.
After a difficult first six months in Catalunya’s capital, which saw him sparingly used by boss Xavi, however, the 19-year-old was granted a swift departure over the summer.
Roque went on to pen terms with Barca’s La Liga rivals Real Betis, on loan with an option to buy.
Speaking in an interview with ‘Todo al Verde’, as cited by Diario Sport, this week, it therefore came as little surprise when both his Barcelona woes, and solid start to life in Heliopolis, were quickly put to the youngster,
And, in his response, Roque went on to explain:
“I was in Brazil without knowing if I was going to come to Spain or not. I was on vacation and I found out only a week before that I was going to Barça in January. Then I had few opportunities there, I had bad moments.
“Not even in my wildest dreams did I imagine scoring in my first home game and I was very happy. I took a weight off my shoulders, after enduring moments that only God and my family know. They have helped me to be stronger and now I feel perfect in Seville.”
From here, Roque was then drawn on his footballing idols.
And the Brazilian international’s response is no doubt set to turn more than a few heads across Spain over the days to come.
This comes with Roque having pointed towards none other than ex-Real Madrid frontman Cristiano Ronaldo as his point of reference in the game:
“My idol has always been Cristiano Ronaldo. I also like Neymar a lot, because of his Brazilian magic, but I’ve always paid a lot of attention to Cristiano.”
