Bart van Rooij says he was open to a January move amid interest from Wolves, but he remained with FC Twente when no deal emerged.

“The world of football brings uncertainty, you don’t know what’s coming next,” he said. “That’s why I was open to it. It didn’t work out, but it’s up to me to make sure I show something extra, so maybe something will happen again next summer.” He told De Telegraaf.

“I was bothered by it for two hours. The next day we played AZ away in the cup, and I just had to be back. I switched gears.”

The 24-year-old was linked during the winter window, with reports of an £8.5 million bid from Wolves.

Twente are fourth in the Eredivisie, level on points with fifth-placed Ajax, and the right-back has been credited with a major role in that form.

He joined Twente from NEC Nijmegen in 2024 and is under contract until 2028.
