Bayern Munich, featuring trio Harry Kane, Michael Olise, Luis Díaz, have surpassed the biggest attacking haul German football has ever seen.

With a ruthless 5-0 win over St. Pauli, the Bavarians set a new record for goals scored in a single Bundesliga season.

Vincent Kompany's side had already become the fastest team to reach 100 goals in a Bundesliga season, doing so in just 28 rounds. Now, with 105 goals, they have become the most prolific attack the competition has ever seen.

In doing so, they surpassed the legendary Bayern side from 1971/72. In that season, driven by the incredible 40 goals of Gerd Müller, Bayern finished with 101 goals in 34 matches and won the title by three points ahead of Schalke 04

As a team, they have already gone beyond the great Bayern side of the 1970s, but there is also an individual battle that could end with another historic record, one that is a little harder to beat. Harry Kane has 31 goals and is still chasing not only Müller, but the all-time single-season Bundesliga scoring record: Robert Lewandowski, who scored 41 goals in 2020/21.

There are five rounds left and Kane has failed to score in only five of the 27 matches he has played so far. It is hard to doubt the striker, even if the feat still looks like a daunting one for mortal eyes...

Even harder to believe is that the title will not be staying in Munich. Bayern have 76 points and hold a 12-point lead over second-place Borussia Dortmund. The title could even be clinched in the next matchday, against Stuttgart
