FC Bayern are looking to make one transfer in particular in the summer: England international Anthony Gordon is their preferred target, but there is no alternative. A potential deal for the record champions could be complicated anyway
On the one hand, Gordon will not come cheap and the record champions are not willing to meet the current demand of at least 80 million euros
In addition, there are other clubs who are also interested in the player. As TEAMtalk has learned, Liverpool are still very interested in Anthony Gordon
The England international is one of three top candidates for the wing position at the Reds to take over from Mohamed Salah
The Reds are actively looking at a number of high-profile attacking players after Salah played his last game for the club last weekend, including RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande, who is also being courted by PSG. Unsurprisingly, the top clubs in Europe are basically pursuing fairly similar targets

Gordon is therefore on Liverpool’s shortlist, even if it is not yet clear whether the Reds will ultimately put pressure on him or prefer a different solution. Bayern’s plan from the outset was to make a lucrative offer directly to the player in order to cushion interest from other clubs
However, the longer it takes for the record champions to enter into negotiations with Newcastle United, the greater the chances are for other clubs. After all, FC Bayern has alternatives up its sleeve and has not stuck with the Gordon option. The Magpies‘ attacking star has also been nominated for the senior national team and will be represented at the World Cup in North America.
