Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday remains on course despite heavy snowfall in Munich and across southern Germany.
Bild reports that Bayern are working with weather consultancy EWB, which expects temperatures to rise to between five and seven degrees on Saturday and does not foresee problematic snow build-up.
Snow disrupted training on Thursday and club staff cleared the pitch on Friday.
Several teams will handle existing and fresh snowfall, with 50 external helpers on standby for Saturday if required. Groundskeepers will clear the surface and the pitch heating system will melt remaining snow.
The pitch will also be illuminated with high-tech grow lights to help regulate temperature. Climbers have removed snow from the arena roof and snowploughs will clear access routes before the game.
While Bayern cannot influence supporters’ journeys, including public transport, kick-off is still expected to take place at 15:30 CET.
