After Uli Hoeneß received backlash for his comments on Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl on Sunday, the club's former star Giovane Élber came to his side for support.
Referencing Hoeneß' remarks on SPORT1's Doppelpass show, Bayern icon Élber appealed for understanding for the club boss and is certain that the comments were intended as advice.
"Such a tough job leads to arguments. Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and I often argued like mad. But as soon as the door closed behind us, it was all right again.
“Max [Eberl] is quite sensitive about that. It would be good if he finally understood that the work is shared among several shoulders. I think he has a problem with that,” Élber added.
Hoeneß himself had to drown the flames that emanated from his comments: “Everything I said was very helpful for him [Eberl]. Everything I said was meant to help him," he said.
Once again, Élber shared a similar view: "I also think it was more of a piece of advice … Max shouldn't think that Uli, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, and everyone else are against him.
"On the contrary, opinions need to be exchanged. You sit down at a table, eat something, have a drink, and talk about things like that together.
"The most important thing is that when Max sits in his office, he tries to do everything right. Ultimately, the results are what matter, and how you get there," the Brazilian concluded.
