FC Bayern are repeatedly linked with Phil Foden – now there is a clear classification of the current situation

The name Phil Foden regularly makes headlines on the transfer market – FC Bayern has also been linked with the Manchester City attacking star recently. But how concrete is the interest really?

According to BILD head of soccer Christian Falk, there is currently no serious approach from Munich for the England international

Foden is generally regarded as one of the most exciting attacking players in Europe. The 25-year-old has already played over 360 competitive games for Manchester City, scoring 110 goals and winning numerous titles

It therefore comes as no surprise that his name is being bandied about by top clubs – not least because his contract only runs until 2027 and no extension has been signed to date

However, Falk makes it clear: „Bayern Munich have Phil Foden in their sights for the summer. He is of course a very interesting name.“

Bayern has other priorities than Foden

The main reason for the reluctance lies in FC Bayern’s squad structure. The Munich club already has a broad-based attack – and is also focusing on targeted additions rather than more top stars

Falk explains: „But FC Bayern are not looking for a player like him – someone who is expensive in the pocket and would expect to play every game from the start. They are looking for a replacement option on the left wing behind Luis Diaz.“

With players like Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry, Jamal Musiala and talented Lennart Karl, the record champions are already well-stocked

Economic aspects also play a role: Foden is one of Manchester City’s top earners, which would make a transfer even more difficult

Falk sums it up: „Realistically, where would Phil Foden fit into this team? It wouldn’t be an ideal move for either side.“
