In a lively fixture at the Allianz Arena, Bayern Munich hosted Arsenal in the UEFA Women’s Champions League group stage.

The result sends shockwaves through the group – Arsenal left to rue missed chances, while Bayern showcased their trademark resilience.

As it happened

From the early stages, Arsenal set the tone. In the 5th minute, Emily Fox headed home to give the visitors a dream start.

Bayern looked rattled as Arsenal’s press and movement caused problems. The Gunners doubled their lead in the 23rd minute through Mariona Caldentey, who hammered an effort into the net after being set up by Stina Blackstenius.

At half-time, it was 0–2: Bayern enjoyed more possession but lacked penetration, while Arsenal looked composed and clinical.

The second half began with Bayern showing greater urgency, yet Arsenal appeared in control. However, as the match approached the hour mark, the momentum shifted.

In the 67th minute, substitute Alara Şehitler connected with a cross from Klara Bühl to make it 1–2, dragging Bayern back into the contest. Suddenly, Arsenal’s advantage looked fragile.

As the game entered its final stages, Bayern pressed for an equaliser. In the 80th minute, Pernille Harder produced a stunning dipping strike past the keeper – again assisted by Bühl – to level the score at 2–2. The Allianz Arena erupted as Arsenal’s earlier confidence began to fade.

Just six minutes later, Bayern completed the turnaround. Glódís Viggósdóttir’s late run and composed finish made it 3–2, sealing a remarkable comeback.

Arsenal pushed forward desperately in stoppage time but couldn’t find a response. It was a statement win for Bayern, and one that leaves Arsenal near the foot of the group table.
